Groove Loves Melody, round two: why the reboot.

From 2011 to 2014, I ran this Dallas-based music blog, Groove Loves Melody. It was an outgrowth of the work I did with another writer (based in Austin at the time) called Popolio. The concept behind the entries was relationships. Tunecrush speaks to catchy single tracks or album cuts, much like a crush on someone. It’s basically the song of the moment.

Around 2014, I decided to suspend writing and posting for the blog. While my passion for sharing recent music stays, I became overwhelmed with the staggering number of PR requests while balancing full time work. The FOMO (fear of missing out) began to cause burnout.

Now I’m reconnecting with the reason I began blogging in the first place – keeping my writing sharp using a subject I’m passionate about. So, with that, Groove Loves Melody begins again. To help combat the FOMO, I ground myself in the reality that I’m a GenX writer most influenced by the sounds of pop and funk from the 1970’s and 1980’s. I also have a soft spot for jazz fusion and acapella stylings, having performed in an acapella group myself. This is my perspective. I believe this is important for PR companies to know this before adding me to their e-distribution list.

I’m excited to share music in this format again and look forward to posting Q&A interviews as well. Another love of mine is craft beer. I’ll be sharing more of that at Feel free to join me there if you share that passion too.

Welcome back to Groove Loves Melody. Let’s talk about music.
